Volunteers are integral to the success of Montgomery BEST serving in a variety of roles during the competition period. We welcome individuals and groups from the community, academia, industry, and government. Volunteers can serve in one of three ways:
Team Mentors are paired with a local team and work directly with that team to assist them throughout the six week “design and construction” phase leading up to the competition itself. Team mentors are generally members of the local community and/or industry with a technical background and a strong interest in helping students.
Competition Judges assess numerous awards categories on and before competition day. Categories range from non-technical (marketing presentations, spirit & sportsmanship) to technical (engineering notebook, robot design) and are all fun to judge! Competition judges should be university graduate students, faculty or STEM professionals.
Event Personnel assist with competition day activities, including registration, hospitality, merchandise sales, refereeing, and scorekeeping. Anyone is welcome to serve as event personnel. If you are interested in volunteering, please follow the link below to fill out an interest form and share with us your background and interest so that we can best fit you with a volunteer position.
